City of Wayne
We left DC that December morning to see a girl near a Detroit suburb, but she was gone.

City of Wayne

Not on your memory,
but on your face
do I write
the day of understanding
without anger.

The rhythm of
heel and toe,
heel and toe,
and songs I cannot whistle
make you laugh at me.

Thumbs up, we push
this city from us,
but it will
come back.
I know.
