Remember
Remember the girl was a woman nonetheless Whose heart was a place of innocence That all but could express A womb of smiles smiled, A union of self and selflessness Where love is a newborn child. Remember a night on the highway That whispered, "Your place is here," While the trees and the grass slipped away At the bittersweet end of the year. And remember, if time will permit you, The heart of a soul-wrenched boy, Who loved-- and still would love-- you Though Canis Major licks Blood from the Southern Crucifix, Tears from the eyes of Troy.
