If Time
This is a poem that I wrote in 2000 and now parts of it seem more relavant then before.

If Time
If time was a ball,
Would it be big or small?
Would it be ivory or ebony?
Would it be perfect or flawed?
If time was a ball.

If time was a pet,
Would it be soft or course?
Would it have fur or scales?
Could it fly, walk, or swim?
If time was a pet.

If time was a river,
Would it be steady or erratic?
Would it be clear like crystal or foggy with debris?
Would it bend and twist or flow straight?
If time was a river.

If time was a person,
Would it see hate in our eyes or love?
Would we ignore it or accept it?
Would it thrive or slowly disappear?
If time was a person.
