The Closeness of You
Brief poem

The closeness of you is what I long for.

To smell the strong warmth of your hair and drink deeply of your smile.

To touch your cheek and follow your eyes wherever they may wander
wishing for them to fall on me.

To wake in some autumn sunburst and find you in the summer moonlight
And know that you will wait with me in the darkness
until the warmest breeze comes cool.

To press my ear against your breast
and feel the pulse of life deep within you
And share the joy and wonder that you might sing.

To merge my fingers in the entanglement of your hands
and press until I find you press back with connection.

To smell the strong warmth of your hair and drink deeply of your smile.

The closeness of you is what I long for.
