Forever Rana

When one of our writers had to say a long goodbye to his beloved daughter, we pulled together as a family--praying, lighting candles, and showing our support in a number of ways.

I knew neither father nor daughter before learning the news of the passing of the latter--and, now, I feel as if I know them both, at least to a degree.

Rana--whose brief visit to this realm lasted only from December 14, 1998 to July 20, 2002--sounded like my kind of kid!

From her Daddy's description of some of her antics and looking at her pictures (expressions, etc.), she made me think of myself at that age, especially the implication that she was a little scamp!

My former school bus driver, Jesse Simmerman, passed away earlier this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's saying the same thing to her at times that he used to say to me so much: "Hey! Hey! Hey!"

If you ever get over to Epinions.com--which, sadly, I can no longer access from my computer (I'll get to the bottom of this problem one of these days)--go to my profile (I write there as ainsleyjo) and read something I wrote called Debbie & The Brat, and you'll have an idea of what poor Jesse had to go through with me way back when!!!

Anyway, one thing I've done--and will be doing for the remainder of this month (July 2002)--is to have a special Rana signature attached to my posts, e-mail, etc.

But this will soon be giving way to something else, and I really want to always keep a candle burning in Rana's memory, so I'm making a copy of the signature here that will go on and on!!!
