It's just a teddy bear Her hands brushed its face So soft And comforting She laughed How many nightmares had it chased away It's just a child's toy Her hands brought it close So sweet And loving How many secrets had it kept safe? He's a grown man now His life spreads before him So creative And daring How many successes lie before him? She's just a mother Memories whirl in her Trying to see The boy she loves In the man who stands before her It's just a teddy bear Still comforting And offering A loving link to her dear son
