ANGELS AT WORK
They were there at a busy intersection -

I am not the best driver
This world has ever seen
But I stop when the light's red
And go along when it's green.

At a busy intersection
At rush hour in the city
I made a near-fatal error,
Not at all too witty!

Looking back upon
My choice of changing lanes
I realize that I could
Have caused a lot of pains!

Trying to keep up with
Another driver leading way
The light turned green; I gassed it,
Could have been Hell to pay!

Two lanes of uncoming traffic
Had also got the green light;
I was caught right in the middle -
I shut my eyes pretty tight!

I sat frozen as they went around me
Two lanes of speeding cars,
All hurrying on to somewhere -
To home, to the mall, or Mars!

When the light changed again
And I was able to move along
I knew that it was a miracle
For I'd been in the wrong!

There had to be angels at work
Hovering over me that day
No other explanation -
There could be no other way!

For a calmness came over me
I could almost feel the wings
Of protection all around me
And the peace that brings -

When they got the red light
And I was able to go on
I started shaking and
Thought about this song;

Seven Spanish Angels
Sent by God to keep me safe
I knew that a miracle
Had surely taken place!

So know that He is watching
And if He can't be right there
He'll send some angels
To give you loving care!

The road was long and weary
As I drove to see my son
I was overtired,
But the battle had been won!

I pulled over and sat awhile
Thanked God and Jesus too,
That I had been carried
When I couldn't make it through.

So if you see an old lady
Sitting by the road one day -
She's probably just thanking God
For the angels sent her way!

Now in the distant future
When motherhood I cannot shirk
As I travel to see my children
There will be angels hard at work!
