Freedom Eludes Me
I used to dream of running away when I was a teenager...

Freedom Eludes Me

Pack my bags,

Open the window,

Slip into the darkness,

Become anonymous.

The urge is fierce-

Run away, rebel child!

Fantasy dreams-

Reality holds no reason.

So long authority!

Prison me no more!

My own anarchy awaits-

Smacking its luscious jaws.

A gaping maw of independence

To gobble me up if I let it.

Yet I am forced to conform.

Forever looking out the window-

Longing,

Pleading,

Begging,

To sever all ties of

Responsibility!
