Rubiyat Poem
Two faces come together. Two faces come together, within my mind to see – which direction we should take, but neither can agree. One will say, “Love this one - with all your heart's content.” And the other shouts, “keep out! Hear you, only me! The fighting roars within my heart, without relentlessness – as I am torn apart inside, as these two distress - over fate, I must endure, is now my own torment. Yet all my dreams, awaiting birth, are dreams of love’s caress. One will have me beckon, to every gentle call – while the other describes a life of hate, hatred for them all. No common ground be founded - or agreements ever told. And the battle rages on, my soul within this brawl. The screams abound around me; it’s all I’ve ever known – the anguish and the misery, as they struggle for my own. Will they ever let me go? Let go of all your hold! As I know their company, will keep me all alone. And though I should not enter; and I know I shouldn’t go – my fears will only leave me here, to a loneliness bestowed. So I surrender to a deafness, and blind myself to thought, If I listen any longer, her love I’ll never know. Kactus Berry
