Farewell to a friend - Knowing you has been an experience; You were - such a blessing to so many. You were so full of life and laughter A better friend - you won't find any That could match your loyalty Your love of humankind; You left a gaping hole, indeed, When you left this world behind. So positive you were in life! You made your mark in style; You treated all as equals, Left us all with a smile. A legacy you've left to us Who remain here without you - That we should carry on; "To thine own self be true!" When the next play is about to start The lights will go out onstage; And one single candle will be lit In a silent pilgrimage. For you, Russell Smith, Must take the final bow - You've shown us love unending To carry on - somehow. Rest well, dear friend.
