Foolish, Foolish Heart (1996 gold star)
When your mind and your heart argue, this is what comes of it.

My soul knows it’s path
I’ve made up my mind
But my heart wants to stay
For it is too kind

Yes, my foolish, foolish heart
Truly believes it’s in love
It believes he loves back
Like a match made above

It can’t be talked out of
Whatever it feels
Oh my foolish, foolish heart
Believes it’s all real

And then reality comes tumbling down
And in tears my heart starts to drown
And my heart goes plummeting ever so far
It falls and it breaks, leaving a scar

It believes now it’s learned it’s lesson
And listens to the “I Told You So”s
It’s been through lots of rejection
Love’s not for real it now knows

But then someone new walks in
And it begins to break it’s mold
My foolish heart’s in love again
And my brain once again scolds

It learns to love again
And blindly it sees
Thinking it won’t break once more
But it seems love’s just not for me

Oh foolish, foolish heart
When will you ever learn?
It’s hard to not love from the start
When it’s only for love you yearn
