HOTEL PARKING LOT I am Looking out at a hotel Parking lot and I am Wondering how long it is going to take you To look up at the window And catch my eye The sky is gray and the grass is brilliant green A contrast, unexpected Each making the other More of what they are I am Staring out at the hard black of the Asphalt and I am Watching you and counting moments You hand a tip to a man in a burgundy suit And walk inside the sliding double doors Without glancing up To see the window’s reflection Of eyes in a gray sky
