I have to work so hard to love you
It's like you don't even want to try
I'm the only one here giving
And you're just sitting idly by

You must find it so amusing
To watch me struggling on
You're wasting all I've offered
But you just smile and go along

We should go ahead, give up now
They all know this is a sham
If you cared you'd show me different
You prove you just don't give a damn

And you don't have to try and fight it
Just to save face for your friends
They all know as well as I do
That it's already been the end

I don't want to have to love you
It should be something we both feel
But you just barely even hold me
And all the kisses I have to steal

Now my heart's been so mistreated
It aches to see love's light
But you're not the one to give it
So I'll leave and find new sights

So I'll take all my love back now
For fate has wisely shown me
With all the hurt you've given
You'll never be the one for me

I used to work so hard to love you
Till you showed me it's not needed
I could never gain your love back
Even though my heart, it pleaded

We know there's nothing left to salvage
So let's let go now, set it free
Half of love won't ever do
It just was never meant to be
