This time around feels different Because this time I won't fall It's not that I don't want to But my heart's rebuilt a wall I've learned my lessons well My heart's been burned before This time I won't question I'll be patient to what's in store I won't jump to conclusions Or make my heart pretend I won't let him lead me somewhere Then stomp my heart into the ground This time I'll be patient I know he doesn't yet feel for me And I refuse to let myself Think there's potential he could see If I play it off real casual It won't hurt my heart as bad So if he up and leaves me He didn't leave what we never had This time's gonna be different This time I'll play it safe So that way if I strike out I'll just know it wasn't fate
