Darkness of the Night
The end of suffering with a terminal illness. written in 1998

In the darkness of the night
The cries of pain are heard
The willful sorrow hiding
Behind the world obscured

The angel that comes for me
As I wait upon for death
Is as bleak as my sight
And now I take in my last breath

My mind is drifting slowly
My sense is dulled and dry
The pain is folding in on me
My eyes too hard to cry

And then she comes before me
Her black robes flowing 'round
Her eyes are deep and staring
Her mouth makes not a sound

The pain I once had suffered
That left my life and me
Prematurely, is now gone
And now she sets me free

So good-bye to all the life
I once had known end sight
As I begin to leave behind
The darkness of the night
