INSPIRATIONAL

Yesterday afternoon
I got up off my deathbed
And went to the fair -
Invited by a friend
We were going to see
The Irish Tenors in concert!
Now, a bit of me is Irish
And I was looking forward
To hearing some rolicking
Good Irish music!
I did. But -
They started singing
America The Beautiful -
And in case you are too young
To have heard it, or
Too old to remember it (nah!)
It goes like this:
"Oh beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain -
For purple mountain majesties
Across the fruited plain"
Now maybe my memory is failing;
But the words are a tribute
To the country we live in.
Here in America.
The love of the people
For their land.
No politics.
And the crowd stood
And sang along!
It was one of the most
Inspirational moments
I have had in my life.
You could feel the love.
You could feel the passion.
We love our country;
We do not want war, death and destruction.
We are a peace-loving people.
This is our land, we love it;
We will defend it;
Most of all - we will honor it!
And for those of you
In other countries -
Who happen by to read this -
Know that you also have the right
To honor YOUR country, as well.
We share one planet.
Save it.
Live in peace.
