"I don't believe I will be here much longer," said Alice to the caterpillar.
"Why?" the insect asked, his voice tinged with exasperation. Through the cloud of opium smoke, he peered down at the young girl as she stood before him. "Because my desideratum is opening a new door for me. I'm going to escape," she explained with a slight smile. She clasped her hands behind her back and rocked on the heels of her shoes. "Escape? That's very dull!" cried the caterpillar. He sucked at his pipe angrily. "Oh, but I must! You see, my escape is not through the netherworld of death. It is through the door of self-discovery," she countered, waving away the smoke impatiently. Disgruntled, the hookah puffer muttered, "At least I know who I am!" Asked sweet Alice, "Who...are...you?"
