“So whacha doin’ tonight?” Stitchface asked Asia. Asia gave him a smile and a shrug. For the past two weeks, Stitchface was the only one that Asia was really talking to. Asia didn’t really want to talk to Nola because of what Jay had said to her the night they broke up. She figured it was mostly Nola’s fault anyway. If she hadn’t broke Jay’s heart the way she did, Asia could’ve spent the rest her days with him, or so she felt.
“Why do you ask?” Asia wondered. Stitchface just shrugged and grinned, shadowing Asia’s actions. “I dunno. I thought maybe you’d wanna get outta here since you’ve been cooped up for awhile,” Stitchface suggested. Asia bit her lip, deep in thought. “Where are we going?” Asia questioned excitedly, Stitchface giving her a look of wonder. “What?! You said we were going somewhere!” Asia exclaimed, pointing out. Stitchface just smiled. “Well, I know this place…” Stitchface answered. * * * * “What is this place?” Asia asked as they hopped off Stitchface’s bike. “A playground,” Stitchface answered happily. Asia’s eyes went wide with excitement as she ran to the swingset and jumped on, pumping her legs back and forth. “Wow, I haven’t seen you this excited in awhile!” Stitchface commented with a smile. “I love swings!” Asia called out as she soared above the ground. She stopped herself suddenly and looked expectantly at Stitchface. “What?” Was all he could question blankly. “Get over here! Come swing Stitches!” Asia commanded with a grin. Stitchface sighed, though smiling, and walked over to swings, then sat down while Asia dug the toe of her shoe into the gravel under the swing. “you were right, I needed this,” Asia admitted. “Am I right or am I right?” Stitchface said with mock modesty. “Hey, let’s see who can swing higher!” He challenged. Asia hopped off her swing and got a running start as Stitchface began pumping his legs, though slowly at first, gaining more length than Asia. “No fair! You’ve got longer legs!” Asia cried out, Stitchface swinging high above her. “Hark, is that a hint of jealousy I hear?” Stitchface teased. “Oh hell no, why would I wanna date Ace?” Asia retorted, a smile on her face. “That’s what I was wondering ,” Stitchface told her honestly, a smile on his face. “Well, it’s a little late for that,” Asia pointed out. “Thankful it’s over?” Stitchface laughed. “You really were jealous, weren’t you?” Asia stopped suddenly, looking at Stitchface as he gave her a look of surprise. And shock. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Stitchface answered quickly, turning his head to the dusk-setting sky, but Asia could hear the embarrassment and surprise in his voice. “Yes you do!” She countered back with a grin. “You are just completely confused!” Stitchface rebuttled back. Asia laughed once more as Stitchface gave her a mocking look, as if to say “What are you laughing at?” “You are such a liar! I see it in your eyes,” Asia told him matter-of-factly, but still joking. “Eyes can lie,” he told her, sounding serious. “And they can tell the truth as well,” Asia answered back, just as seriously. Stitchface gave a playful grin. “So they can,” he retorted slyly, Asia gave him a slightly puzzled look. “What do you mean?” She questioned, holding her breath. She was pretty sure she knew what was about to happen… “Yours are telling me something…” He began. “And what would that be?” She tested with a smile. Without either of them realizing it, Stitchface pulled Asia’s swing closer to his as he slowly lowered his lips to hers. “They told me you needed that,” Stitchface said softly as they gently pulled apart from each other. “Little deceivers they are,” Asia gave a laugh.
