White widow woman in the white Cadillac White hair matching white car Cruising the streets in your self-contained house Unmindful of the blaring horns The shouted insults The obscene gestures Of those whose world demands more speed As they race to fill each moment with some eternal meaning Fearing that failure to do so will erase them from time But you are rich with time For it is all that lies behind you And as you stare into the future Time is all that you can see NOTE: For grammatical purists - I am aware that "widow woman" is redundant. However, the rhythmic effect of "white widow" is virtually non-existent, so I choose redundancy to claim full poetic power.
