Just when you thought that explaining things would make it better...

False reality tumbling down
This facade violently dies
I'm picking up pieces from the ground
All you left me with are lies

"I promise to love you forever,"
You whispered tenderly on the altar
Then this relationship got severed
Proving that your love for me faltered

Somewhere along this roughening road
I thought I would see some light
A way for my heart to warm yours, now bitter cold
But now all we ever do is fight

Two days ago you handed me papers
And some lame excuse of lacking
How your love for me slowly tapered
That in this union, I was slacking

When you're the one gone for hours on end?
You lived in your office all day!
In a letter to you I then penned
What was left of my heart, now frayed

My Dearest Beloved,
What happened to us?
There used to be caring
There used to be trust

You promised forever
Now gone from sight
And you're saying things
My heart knows aren't right

It strains to remember
Where this all went wrong
And through all my searching
I hear our song

"...The greatest fan of your life"
Those words keep playing
My heart begins aching
Because that's not what you're saying

Can it be fixed?
Or is it too late?
Could we still get past
This now painful state?

I leave you this letter
In hopes that you read
And give my ailing heart
What it desperately needs

All I need is your love
The love that you promised
This is straight from my heart
I'm being completely honest

I still love you my dear
Please say how you feel
Let me know of your heart
Let me know this is real

And when I came home that very day
What to my eyes did I see?
Everything my tender heart had to say
Thrown in the fireplace, burning free

So this is how you feel towards us?
Exactly what you think of me?
I guess there was no need to make a fuss
Now being slapped with harsh reality

Here's my signature on your paper
The last time you'll see your name on me
You can keep all your lies, forsaker
But my last word to you is
ALIMONY.
