THE PEN
Someday the pen will drop, and there will be no more -

Someday the pen will drop
From these aged hands of mine -
The words will have all been said
In stories or in ryhme.

The tears upon the paper
Will dry and disappear;
Unless I leave these words behind,
You won't know I've been here.

For years I've written down
On paper and with pen -
The lessons I came to learn
And share with fellow men.

The heart is getting weary,
The eyes are growing dim.
I have to leave you soon,
I have to follow Him.

The pen lies beside the pad
Of paper on my stand -
If there is more to share
It will be by another's hand.

We do not know what miracles
Our words just might inspire;
Yet I have done what I can do
To bring your spirits higher.

The likes of me you may find
Here in this world again -
For this to you, my legacy;
My paper - and my pen.
