If I threw myself
at your feet
and flung out all my tears
to bounce
on the stoney ground
like marbles,

would you gather me up
and hold me together,
whispering padded words
into my fragile ears,
until I was whole
once more?

Maybe then-
we could share every smile.
Maybe then-
we could float on our dreams.

But,
would I ever again
be able
to stand?
