Grand Old Man Grand Old Man, Whiskers like a mandarin's A grin to match. Striped, from the top of his head To his knitted jumper and socks. He gave us love and loyalty Through eighteen Summers and nine Lives. A wise old friend, Acknowledged by all to be a gentleman. Wise enough to be tolerant Of guinea-pig and rabbit. Asking only to be allowed his dignity When the time came to let him go. In loving memory of Morgan Thomas. 1981-1999
