"IN CATEGORIZING A DREAM"

I'm searching
Through the misty night,
Until I see the heralding light
Of my love come home.
Of my love come home.

He will come with fanfare
Twinkling eyes and gleaming hair
A cloak of crimson on his shoulders
......Will he really?
This seems like mere fantasy.

Twinkling eyes and gleaming hair?
more like a potbelly and a scalp that's bare.
Full of nonsense about his greatness
A pompous dandy.... oh, what bleakness!
Is my love truly so?
A loser from the word go?
But no ---------
Why be so pessimistic?
For a change, let's be realistic.

He'll be a normal man
With five senses, health and a little tan,
How about a little humor too?
Sure, he'll be funny unless he's feeling blue.
Then of course, he can complain
That I'm a slob and have no brain.

NO BRAIN?! Wait a second!
I'm the one with a PhD, I reckon.
Who on earth do you think you are?
Just a nobody whose passed the bar!
You seriously don't impress me buddy.
Learn some new tricks; I'm not putty,
That you'll beckon and I'll come running.
You've been misled and i ain't funning!
Geez! A normal man?!
I'm running away, faster than a roadrunner can.

So, even a normal man wouldn't do.
Makes me wonder what's left to do.
There must be some way to be satisfied.
Can someone out there give me some sane advice?
What kind of guy should I dream for?
Maybe Macho Man or Brain Boy or......

For a girl like me,
Who is rather independent and free,
Who likes popcorns, crisps and cheese,
Who longs for a mansion and a forest of trees,
Long, long walks, music and books,
Decidedly unconcerned about clothes and looks
In short, I must say
Without any roundaboutation or further delay,
Since an eccentric girl is what I am,
I'll dream for the innate, eccentric man!

Thank you for reading! Incase you thought that the title of the poem didn't really make sense...feel free to suggest another one.I'm terrible with titles!:) ~Sher Khan~
