The Busy Days of Autumn

The trees shake away their leaves to cover the ground.
Their colors have turned crimson red, burnt orange, and gold.
It’s a reminder of the colder days ahead.
The time of year to take a drive through tree-lined roads
Or even walk along wooden paths
To appreciate Nature’s breathtaking color show.

On such a walk the brisk air quickens our pacing steps
And happy thoughts fill our heads.
A friendly nod to a passerby
And the clear blue sky above
Gives us a sense of jubilation
That it’s going to be another great day.

Pumpkins and haystacks spring up everywhere
And scary decorations are put on display
To the delight of children of all ages.
Soon our young ones
Will go trick or treating
And amuse us with their Halloween wear.

And none-too soon holiday lights will appear.
The stores will ready their festive displays
And the child in all of us will come alive.
It’s a happy time of the year.
The days grow short and soon
We will be at another year’s end.

Autumn is also a time to reflect
On the loss of loved ones
And pray they are happy in their better place.
We celebrate life on their behalf
And cherish our short time
Left on this earth.

Through smiles and tears
And pains and fears
Through thick and thin
Let’s strive not to despair.
But keep our Faith strong
As each Autumn moves along.
