Therapy (I guess)
I was asked to write a poem to express something. So I did.

The page burns
My pen twitches
Yurning to speak
To express
         Pain
         Anger
         Sadness
         Joy
         Fear
                   Who I am

Who am I?
Do I really know
Surely this detail
Is life's great mystery
The meaning of life
Is to know yourself
Or is it?

I confuse
         Myself
                   Them
                             Others

I am many faces
Many people
Sometimes I tire
The stress
Of being the right one
Who likes who

Can I not be myself?
Be guided by instinct
Listen to my inner self
Let her out
Let her speak
         Shout
         Sing
         Cry
         Laugh

I want
To embrace my friends
Laugh in the sun
Hold hands
Love
Be free
Of this burden
This weight
That drags me down
Deeper and deeper
Spiraling
Falling

For fear they hate me
I hide
For fear they like me
I hide

One day
I'll giggle
