PANIC ATTACK

The day starts out like any other
And I have no reason to fear
I get in my car to go driving
For the day is crispy and clear.

I drive down the road with no worry,
And nothing ahead or in back -
Traffic not heavy this morning,
Then I get a panic attack!

I know that I'm going over
The bank and into a tree -
I know without any reason,
It's going to happen to me.

I slow to a crawl on the highway
And pull over as soon as I can;
Wait for the terror to subside
Then start out once again.

At night I wait for the morning
When the wind doesn't howl with delight
When I don't fear whatever is out there
(It's a panic attack, all right!)

I don't think I'm afraid of dying
But something is causing this pain;
A little green pill and I'm better
Till the panic attacks start again.
