Broken Trust
When I found out it was all too true...

Suspicion has bound me
With chains of mistrust.
I no longer know who to believe.

For a brief time, life numbs my heart.
I ignore the subtleties.
I am blissful of my ignorance.

Then the curtain of truth is pulled
sharply to one side.
I am blinded by shock.
I find myself caught in reality.

Trust is no friend of mine.
I sever all bonds with it.
Never again will I be so easily lured.

Always waiting for the proverbial second shoe,
Paranoia seeks me out.
I trust no one ever again.
