A Soldier's Letter to His Mother
I've been called into the war, Mom. I don't want you to cry; Wipe the tears from off your face, it's not our last good-bye. It's not an easy thing to do, to go out there and fight, No matter what I go through, Mom, I'll think of you each night. Keep your tears inside you, Mom, and wipe them off your cheeks; Soon I will be home again, in just a couple weeks. Please be sure to pray for me, because I'll pray for you; I've got my angels with me, Mom, I know they'll help us through. And if the worst does happen, Mom, I'm always by your side, I wanted to be brave for you; for my country, I have died. And if the worst does happen, I don't want you to forget I'll love you forever, Mom; and there will be no regrets. I've never left your side, Mom, although I'm far away, I know I'll cry myself sometimes and think of you each day. Remember why I'm out here, Mom; peace I will defend; I'll be your knight in shining armor now until the end.
