Rock Bottom
Rated: 13+ | Poetry | Emotional | #550895
Hitting rock bottom
Falling
or maybe just slipping,
at any rate
the bottom nears

Where am I?
I was once above the world
rejoicing in light
at the top of the mountain

The sun bright
I was at the peak
should have known
that it wouldn't last

I teetered,
tottered,
then I looked down
to find that I was falling

Now the peak is gone
and the end is here,
I've hit rock bottom
and I think of what they say

"From the bottom
you can only go up"

My eyes float up
trying to grasp any sign above
but there is nothing,
only decayed dreams

The tears
bleed down my face
as I look
at the stone beneath me

My hands are bloodied
digging at the floor
fingernails torn
tearing at my skin

A sob rakes my body.

That's when I realize the truth
as I scrape the rocks loose
there is no bottom,
no solid bottom

You can always dig yourself deeper.
