feeling guilty for having needs

"Unwanted Needs"
(8/10/02 to 8/11/02 - 18 years old)

Give me a hug
I promise I will
Give a hug
Back to you

Lend me an ear
Cuz I need to talk
I'll listen, too
When you need some help

Smile at me
When I walk down the street
I might be in need
Of a light in my day

I reach out for help
And receive it from friends
And when they ask it of me
I give all I have

Assertiveness
Is the way to receive
All that in life
That I desperately need

But scared of sharing
My opinions I am
Not willing to make
A single soul mad

So usually I give
To others in need
While strangled by guilt
When help I receive

I'm slowly starting
To believe in myself
But still unsure
What I'm all about
