No Death in Love
By Quizmo LaGrande Why can’t it be you Who is jolted by my touch As I by yours? Why, though my heart knows the truth, Must I smile in agony, Smile down-hearted, Smile so hurt At love that cannot be? Why must I miss you so much Today, far more than yesterday? Why must I, each evening, pray No longing tomorrow? Lover, why Do you wish not to lose me, Yet, run so far away? I smile and understand That death in life, Death in love, Is never final but ever Lingering, Changing, Unfolding us into new light, New love, Better love. No death in life… No death in love.
