PARTY'S OVER "Party's over," he said. The doors slammed shut behind him And the sound echoed in the silence. "Party's over. You can Put away those pink streamers - No one will see them. These banners - what a waste of cake - But what else can we do? I'm so glad you all could make it but - It's over. Pack up all the Presents - thank you for the presents - And the lovely decorations, but I would hate for her to see them - Let's make sure she doesn't see them - Please, God, please don't let her see them -" Someone put their comforting hand On his shoulder, as he sobbed, "Party's over." And we cleaned up the mess. It was too soon for explanations So we cleaned in silence, Without questions or hushed whisperings Wondering what had happened: After all, what is a party Without a guest of honor?
