Beneath the Stars

The stars twinkle brightly
glowing in a black velvet sky
like diamonds glimmering
in the sky above

Together we lay
wrapped tightly in each other's arms
listening to that soft creak
of the swaying old porch swing

Our hands entwined together
laying comfortably across my abdomen
the music of our heartbeats
become one rhythm, one melody

I sigh, comfortable and content
resting my head against your shoulder
I close my eyes and drift into a world of dream
asleep in your arms, awake in your heart
