What do I need?
A funny - ok, not so funny - poem about thwarted love.

Rooouuund one.
Found me low. Build me up.
Lets move into town.
Buy a house. Buy a car.
Didn't get too far.
Found another, took the money.
Let me pay for his honey.
I cry, pay her bills
While he enjoys his thrills.

I've been broke.
Torn down and thrown up.
I'm fed up and worked up.
I have no more to give.
Pedicure, manicure, a new hair-do.
Shave my legs, buy a skirt
And an uncomfortable pair of shoes.
I learn to cook. I clean the house.
I went and got a job.
I pay the rent.
I pay the car.
And your bill collector's dues.

Rooouuund two.
Another man.
I love you. You love me.
Let's meet behind the tree.
Feely here, kissy there,
Here comes number three.
Split up. Break up.
I'm left high and dry.
Baby wails. Momma cries.
Left by the way-side.

Could it be that it's me
What keeps pushing them away?
All I want's a man to come
And carry me away.
A white horse. Shining armor.
And a castle on a hill.
A smile here. A hug there.
Warm me with your love.

Rooouuund three.
A man with charm.
Gave me flowers. Gave me wine.
Showed me how to dine.
Had no cash. Forgot his card.
How could it be so hard?
Eighty dollars in the hole
I throw hope in a bowl.
Hope, love, trust, hate.
He showed his colors late.

My baby girl looks up at me.
"Don't worry, you will see.
You'll find your prince,
He'll pick us up and take us far away.
It happened in Rapunzel.
It happened by the way.
We may not have real dragons here,
But princes are real . . . aren't they?"

Are they?

I love you. You love me.
Lets play around the tree.
Hug here. Kiss there.
You're the best that could ever be.
Sit down. Roll around.
Lets go have some fun.
Buy a cone. Buy a dog.
Let's head off to the park.

Can it be I did not see
What I had before my eyes?
Me and you. You and me.
We make quite the team.
Forget the prince. Forget the horse.
And the castle on the hill.
Hug me now. Kiss me later.
Greet me at the door.
Daughter mine, this I know.
I don't need men anymore.
