WELCOME TO PARADISIO

Named in honor of the third book of The Divine Comedy, Paradisio is an ultramodern society. A Paradise on Earth.

Located in Antarctica (sorry, we can't disclose the actual location until your application to move there has been accepted) our society is distant from the problems of the rest of the world.

Don't let the surroundings fool you, though. It isn't a cold harsh place to live. Deriving power from abundant geothermal sources, our realm is warm year round; except for the winter sports facilities, of course.

Once your application has been accepted, you can begin planning your dream home. Although we have dozens of ready made floor plans, our architects and builders love a challenge. So come up with your ideal home, and we can probably create it for you. We don't have the standards of standardization here. Castles dwell among the geodesic domes and since property values are not an issue, everyone can keep their homes as they see fit.

The only real rule we have here is "Respect the rights of others". If your neighbour has a vast garden of things you are alergic to, well, we'll be happy to relocate you some where more suitable to your conditions. Please don't go chopping down the plants you find offensive. That's a one way ticket out of Padadisio.

Since we do not operate within the normal global capitalisic system, money is not an issue here. However, there are many tasks that must be done. That is why your application includes a place to list all your skills and hobbies. Everyone must spend one day per week on community service.

What that service entails will depend on your skills and interests. Engineers keep things running. Medical practitioners help keep the society healthy. Scientists work on projects to bring patents, which bring money for Paradisio. Financial experts make sure we all have enough to meet our needs and as many wants as is possible. Every one must work for the good of the community for at least one day per week. Of course, we have many citizens that like what they do so much that they work more, and that is up to them.

For the remaining six days, your time is your own. Write that great novel you've been putting off. I guarantee lots of people here will want to read it. Take up some artistic endeavour. Form a theatre troupe. Or, if that is your desire, relax in a hammock in the bright sun and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Don't worry about the family, either. Some of the finest minds of the world have joined us, and they are eager to share their knowledge with the next generation. Your children will receive the finest education as an undercurrent of their every day lives. And there is lots of green space available for them to enjoy.

If you are a religious person, you will find plenty to do here. Debates and workshops on religion and philosophy in general are part of every day life. Go to any of the parks here, and you can join in on discussions about the meaning of life. And don't worry if you don't know much about the subjects. Respect for everyone is the order of the day. No one's opinion is stupid here.

We have an open door policy for belifs that do not involve ridiculing others, and we also have a wide mix of lifestyles. We base our acceptance decisions on tolerance and understanding. All are welcome.

Of course, there is no way any society can function totally cut off from the real world. Our society is rich in more ways than one. As stated previously, we have a number of top scientists with numorous valuable patents that provide wealth for all. Residents include authors, artists and other creators, all of whom will happily share their work for free with fellow citizens, while selling it to the rest of the world to help provide for everyone in Paradisio.

Thanks to the technology available to us, politics has become a thing of the past. Everyone has a say in what happens here, and everyone's opinions are heard. Since everyone has their needs met, with lots left over for whimsy, control isn't a huge issue. As long as you are courteous to the rest of the citizenry, there aren't a lot of problems that develop. Our screening process for potential citizens sees to that.

Also, we do not sequester everyone here forever. Vacations are still a part of life, and so long as you do not give away the precise location of your realm, you have a world of choices. Flights go all over the world just for you.
