No One Writes Fairy Tales
Where are the fairytales?

No one writes Fairy Tales any more.
In a reality without dreams, who needs
carriages derived from pumpkins?
In a reality, staring through an empty
mirror, can life be reflected back
upon your closed eyelids?

The super heroes are only in comic books,
even they don't have the same appeal,
Superman is married, Batman has Robin,
even Spiderman has a leading lady.
The world looks to the younger generation
to overcome the faults of their heroes.

A damsel in distress once only needed to scream,
now they need proof of abuse for law suits; restraining orders.
Never has life been so hard to find a soulmate.
Too much violence fed into our homes,
do we place glamour on the riots, robberies and murders,
when a serious crime is the leading story on the news?

This world needs a hero, someone made of flesh
and bones, inbred with real emotions and concern.
Then we need to grab onto his cape of equality,
standing against our oppressions,
fighting for the rights of others, and
representing brotherly love.

May this superhero have a resolve of steel,
the patience of a dead man and the
courage of us; lead us into the pits of Hell,
lead us to the gates of Heaven,
lead us to a better way, showing
us a better way.

In the eyes of the world,
this man cannot exist, show them they're wrong,
show them it is futile to resist.
The hero, the protector of the word,
is in our hearts, in our minds
and has the power over our actions.

Power over our actions does not mean command
over the powerless, the meek or the youth.
Power over the actions; think before reacting,
think before enraged, think before the regrets.
Let the anger be released in a deep breath.
Live with, learn from and love your neighbor.
