ANGEL ON HIS SHOULDER

I used to fret and worry about
Things I couldn't change, and so
That little angel on his shoulder
Smiled, just to let me know

That my boy would be okay
No matter what the trial;
He'd be well protected
Mile after weary mile.

In all his times of trouble,
In times of need and despair
That angel on his shoulder
Would always be right there!

Growing up and giving in
To the demands of society,
The angel on his shoulder
Kept a watch on him for me.

Through accident and depression
In some of his younger years,
He fought against all the rules
And shed a million tears.

Yet somehow he found the courage
To go on and face it all -
There's an angel on his shoulder
And although she's very small

That angel doesn't give up
And she sure does not give in;
A true guardian angel
Is watching over him.

He's had his share of pain
But he takes it with a grin,
And if he can keep on smiling
I know he's bound to win!
