Science is a Telescope So many people lay seige to Our science dollars. They speak of the waste... Who needs a space station? Why should we care about Pluto? Cancel those Viking probes... They say the cost is too high To play hide and seek For aliens who may not be there To research unknowns To bother with oceans To scour for plants we don't know But it seems to me that the world Does not truly see That it is all quite different than that The research of science Is no erector set With nuts and bolts and beams It's not a lateral growth With linear, even-marked spots Or towers built block at a time Science is a telescope Whose lenses open wide Allowing inspiration to slowly filter in.
