"They're GrrrrrrrrEAT!!!"
It's funny how kids hear and remember words/phrases!

Written for Dolleys Journey 's Out Of The Mouths Of Babes contest.

It's common for kids to hear unfamiliar words/phrases and remember them as something more familiar to them.

For instance--having heard that they went to an asylum for the insane (or insane asylum, for short)--I used to think that mentally-ill people were put in the silo in Salem or the Salem Silo.

When my cousin, Denise, had just turned 6 years old back in the summer of 1968, I was taking care of her and told her not to go into the "corn place" without me.

I meant the cornfield, but I thought she might understand "corn place" better.

My ten year old cousin and her best friend had gone into the cornfield, and the grown-ups asked us if we knew where they were--to which Denise replied, "They're in the cornflakes!"
