Once upon a time a long time ago on a great big farm there was a mother dog named Mother Dog who had a litter of puppies. She had thirteen puppies in all. Bobby, the little boy she lived with, said, "Mother! Father! Come here and see! Mother Dog has had thirteen puppies! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen! This is the last puppy born, so I'm going to name him Thirteen!' "Very good!" said Mother and Father. "You are such a smart, little boy to come up with such a smart name for The Thirteenth Puppy!" Then, Bobby went to school, and he said to Teacher, "Teacher, Teacher! Mother Dog had thirteen puppies! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen! I have named the last one born Thirteen, cos he was the thirteenth one born!" Teacher said, "Very good, Bobby! I will have to give you an A in math!" "Thank you! Thank you, Teacher Dear!" smiled Bobby. Thirteen got bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger until Bobby said, "Thirteen! You are so big! You are no longer The Thirteenth Puppy! You are The Thirteenth Dog!" And Thirteen just gave a doggie smile and said, "Bow-wow-wow!" THE END
