Written for Dolleys Journey
I was over to my goddaughter's port a little earlier today reading some of her latest posts. One of them was this short, simple poem with a great message:
and it reminded me of something that happened when I was taking this Christian education workshop several years ago in order to make me better prepared to help out in a Sunday School or Bible School setting. It was a hands-on kind of workshop, so we had a real class of kids to work with. One little boy (who was four years old) asked me, "What color am I?" "You're Black," I replied--since "Black" was the term most often used to describe people of his race at that time. "No I'm not," he replied. "Then, what color do you think you are?" I asked. Based on his actual appearance, I think his reply was pretty accurate: "I'm orange."
