PASSION STAR

I lie beside you, listening
To the soft, steady sound
Of your breathing, and I
Wonder at the miracle I've found.

Quietly, I slip out of bed,
Walk to the window and gaze
Up at the many million stars;
I find that one star is ablaze.

With a fiery brilliance, the star
Shimmers in the night -
So very like the passion
That so filled me with delight.

I've always believed that love
That is really, truly true
Will cause the passion star
To come into full view.

Back to your arms and happiness
My passion cannot mar
The brilliance or the beauty
Of that lovely passion star.
