WC Newsletter #58*Children’s Literature
Another informative WC newsletter, edited/commentated by Red Writing Hood

Note from the Editor:

Welcome to the Writers' Circle Newsletter!

I write in just about every genre’, however, I’ve decided to focus my major publishing efforts in children’s literature. There were two main reasons for this decision.

The first factor would have to be the herd rampaging through the room as I write this, my four kids. They give me inspiration as well as put up with being my test subjects.

The other reason I chose to focus on kid lit is more of an educational one. For me, it is a way of honing my craft. A good children’s story must have all the elements of any other type of good writing (setting, character, plot, etc.) BUT in a concise manner, due to the restricted word length and audience attention span. Entertaining and tightly written pieces, as we all know, are what we strive for in writing our articles, short stories and novels.

Just like my focus on Haiku in the realm of poetry, children’s literature helps me perfect my fiction and non-fiction writing.

Now I must corral and sooth the savage beasties with ice cream and hose ‘em down, before I toss them into bed.

While I do that, why don’t you check out the children’s literature pieces featured this week by Writers’ Circle members and non-members alike. *Bigsmile*
