BATTLE SCARS

With solemn voice, the captain gave
The orders to advance to the front line;
"We have a rendezvous to keep,
And you will be just fine".

The bullets whined above our heads;
Enlightenment came so fast!
Some of us might make it home
And some of us would not last.

Some would go home with battle scars,
Some would not go home at all;
Yet war looms once more and we
Will stand or we shall fall.

With solemnvoice the pastor read
Of enlightenment yet to come;
We had a rendezvous with death
And someone lost another son.
