Defying God
A rudimentary, yet logical and angry, look at religion.

Angels all around me
Their chorus a single, beautiful sound
Serenity and purity
With this holiness I've found

But that's not the way it happens
Lies and deceit from God
False declarations from the pious one
Held together by his own facade

And when we get to Heaven
How will we be accused?
By our belief in God, Jesus, The Word?
Or our different points of view?

Who is God to judge us
And the way we live our lives?
He put us here; imperfect
And now expects us to pay the price?!

Down here we're warped and damaged
His creations? Phah! What a mess!
And while He sits high and mighty
He expects us to pass His test

They say He's here for us
"He loves us one and all"
But if we ever screw up
So easily He'll watch us fall

So, when we get to Heaven
How will we be accused?
By how we've forced His Word?
Or our different points of view?

And who is God to judge us
And the way we live our lives?
He put us here; imperfect
And now expects us to pay the price?!

And what of these missionaries?
Theses preachers and prophets "so wise"
How truly smart are they?
How have they judged their own lives?

Feeding off the rich
Taking from the poor
They say you don't need your money
In Heaven, there's so much more

And why does God insist
On this basis for the accused?
By how we spread His Word
And not the caring things we do?

But what it boils down to
I don't know if I can believe
Is He still watching over us?
Or did He just up and leave?
