Vain Existence By Quizmo LaGrande It seems my vain existence Calls my being to a stance, A duel of non-resistance Clairvoyant’s vague romance. Tis me, the victim, Slave to all, ‘Gainst me, Centaur of passion’s call. A duel of dignity and strength Surrender to which one? Or part in recognition Of trust’s mightiness undone? Blind in armor wielding Sharp in yielding sword A strike to make the passing A blow that mars the core. Yet blow of good intention Never finds its way; Slash open not a friendship Lovers’ slow retreat, dismay. A gash of recognition An instant of a glimpse Paradise and heaven Then to hell prey demon limps Licking wounds and festered sore, Scars of battle time forgot, Yet stabbing still existence This being somehow wrought. Take me down, O mighty sword, With one quick, one deafened blow, Take me down, I fear fight more, Let daft Centaur bear the load! Victory the beastie That neither wins nor cries; Conquest dares this doer Expose ego’s weathered pride. ~*~
