Loving Or Leaving
A truth is waiting but I ignore it Too vain to acknowledge this bruise My stain-free ego, how I adore it As long as I can maintain this ruse None too nice my tunnel vision It's all I have and it's no use For handling hearts with precision In words both wondrous and obtuse The clever banter of my heart Falters and palpitates to choose Whether to deliver for my part Loving or leaving type of news Stabbing sobs and uncommon curses Shake admission from my lips loose I spill forth my explanatory verses Incoherent as if written by Dr. Seuss Whispers wail from all around me Mocking me with jeers and boos Let the light of truth surround me Else your trust I stand to lose Sweet and bitter both together Vie for advantage after deuce To decide my hanging tether whether Loving or leaving type of noose [auth note: this piece companion to "Lips of Mercury"
