Said cow to pig, “I like that snout! How spongy, pink, and cute!"
Said pig to cow, “You flatter me, you handsome old galoot!” Stood he and she regarding, for the first time, other one Beneath a shady willow tree half hidden by the sun. The handsome cow had wandered off from mom and dad and herd The pretty pig left pigpen’s mud to play with mockingbird They’d met at noon atop the grassy hill where insects sing And each was shocked to come upon this radiant new thing! So fall in love they did that day, as youthful creatures do Whispered secrets softly uddered: snort and oink and moo Until the farmer came upon this strange, alarming scene; He led pig to her fellow swine, and cow to pasture green. Separated, each one pined, and sulked and wept and prayed; Their budding romance in the grass so unjustly delayed! The end is sad, for ne’er again did sow and bovine meet Since each was eaten anyhow, my tale is now complete.
