Looking In
Valentines' Day from the depressed perspective

I'm repulsed by anything sweet,
so keep that chocolate away.
On this day reeking of defeat,
I seek to find another way.

A day like this batters my soul.
I'm left barren, helpless, and without direction.
Quietly, I'll creep into that little hole
to avoid a hell like persecution.

Leave me with my innocence.
Inform me not of companionship.
I'll simply watch love's decadence
while calming the quivering of my lip.

Long live this hapless day of frivolty,
as I struggle to keep myself from insanity.
